As the gate opens and you start the winding drive up Glassy Mountain through the Cliffs of Glassy community, you begin to notice the spectacular views that improve around each turn. And as you turn into the Glassy Chapel parking lot you come up over the hill and are able to see for miles. As guests arrive at the wedding, they are drawn to the side lawn of the chapel to gaze and take photos from the soaring altitude of 2736 Ft. This view is why people choose the Cliffs of Glassy Chapel for their wedding. We’ve seen people stand in awe for upwards of 20 minutes just taking in the extraordinary surroundings.
And if the view isn’t enough, in the middle of it all is the most heavenly little stone wedding chapel you have ever seen. An iron gate and stone pathway lead you towards the chapel with its steeple reaching high into the sky. Heavy solid wood doors and stone walls, floors, and archways from the mountain side greet you as you enter. Once inside you’ll notice the fine attention to detail with sconces lining the sides of the chapel, and rustic colossal chandeliers suspended from the vaulted ceiling. At the front of the sanctuary is a wall of glass showing off again those spectacular views. Whether you are having a destination wedding or if you are local to the Greenville area there is no other venue that will have such an impact on your guests.
The Cliffs at Glassy Chapel seems as if it was designed by brides to have the most spectacular wedding ever. And as wedding photographers we are exhilarated and inspired by all it has to offer. Below are a few more of our favorite images from this little castle in the sky!
The chapel is a quaint one that can comfortably seat about 120 wedding guests. It is non-denominational and allows you to choose the officiant for your ceremony. A center aisle and a slightly raised alter brings everyone’s attention to the bride and groom. Once your ceremony is complete and you are married, as photographers we always prefer to move outside for photos under the handmade cross to bring in the view. And we love to take the short walk up to the top of the stone mountain for romantic bride and groom photos from the even higher perch. If you really want to “wow “your guests, one of our favorite weddings departed the chapel by helicopter from the top of the stone mountain. The view was spectacular.
If you choose to have your reception close by, The Cliffs other wedding venues can provide for that as well. Below are links to some of our other Cliff venues for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
